The Vineyard

The Ceppaiano vineyard is located on the banks of Arno River, on sandy soils rich in minerals and fossils of marine origin, in one of the most vocated areas of Pisan hills at about 20km from Tyrrhenian Sea.

Area under vine:

Fifty Hectares

The vineyard is home to several grape varieties, mainly Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, but also native minor varieties and other experimental varieties. The vines training system used is the traditional cordon spur.

The experiments conducted in cooperation with the Oenology dept. of the University of Pisa, made it possible to select the best clones and grape varieties, with the aim of producing modern wines, rich of territorial tipicity at the same time.

The search for a new way of telling about the great Tuscan oenological tradition.

This research gives rise to the oenological project of the Estate, where the aim is to reconcile the tradition of Chianti, closely bound to Sangiovese grapes, and the wine innovation that saw in the coast and in the international vines the real revolution of the Tuscan enology from the 70s to date.
