The Ceppaiano vineyard is located on the banks of Arno River, on sandy soils rich in minerals and fossils of marine origin, in one of the most vocated areas of Pisan hills at about 20km from Tyrrhenian Sea. The vines have been planted taking advantage of the long experience maturated by Castellani oenological team on the soils in this area.
Area under vine:
The vineyard is home to several grape varieties, mainly Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, but also native minor varieties and other experimental varieties. The vines training system used is the traditional cordon spur, with a density of about 6500 plants per hectare.
The vines have been planted taking advantage of the long experience maturated by Castellani oenological team on the soils in this area. The experiments conducted in cooperation with the Oenology dept. of the University of Pisa, made it possible to select the best clones and grape varieties, with the aim of producing modern wines, rich of territorial tipicity at the same time.
The presence of a vinification cellar within the estate and the use of integrated techniques of organic farming, allow the preservation of the purity of the fruit during cultivation, harvesting and processing.
